Philip Bro Ludvigsen
UnderCover by Le Klint brought to light
Imagine a transparent lamp shade that can be dressed in the latest colours and fashionable patterns using an inner shade.
This gives you an idea of the lamp concept by the name of UnderCover that Philip Bro Ludvigsen has developed for LE KLINT. A concept in which one of the central code words, UNLIMITED, denotes flexibility and the opportunity
for the customer to put together a very individual lamp.
“Both Philip Bro Ludvigsen and LE KLINT have taken a new direction with
UnderCover. Being able to put up to four inner shades in the lamp at the same time means countless combinations.”
“When Philip put the idea to us, we thought it was the perfect response to the challenge of how to combine classic, timeless design with the need for renewal,” explains Kim W. Jensen, Managing Director of LE KLINT, regarding the genesis of the whole project.
“Our range includes a lot of wonderful, classic shades that go beautifully with,
or rather in, UnderCover.
Cooperation with textile designers
Philip Bro Ludvigsen encouraged LE KLINT to get in touch with talented Danish textile designers when it came to putting the idea into practice and creating patterned
inner shades.
The first two designers to go UnderCover and produce their design offerings for inner shades are Helle Abild and Helle Graabæk. The former is behind the Doodle Dot and Flower Flow series, while the latter has come up with the inner shades of the New Dimensions series.
The starting point, however, is UnderCover Basic, which consists of two liners, one white and one frosted, in addition to the basic acrylic shade.
UNLIMITED
“We are convinced that the opportunity to put together a highly personal and individual combination of inner shades will appeal to many people. It will allow them to adjust the statement made by the lamp at any time to different needs, such as their personal taste, the light, the time of year, that day’s mood, the colour
of the walls, their clothes, the flowers on the table, or whatever it might be,” says Kim W. Jensen of LE KLINT.
Some of the concepts that both the designers and LE KLINT have put a great deal of work into under the UNLIMITED heading are precisely the unlimited possibilities,
the individual and the infinite. UnderCover is now available in two sizes, medium Ø 34 cm and large Ø 44 cm

| [Menu, Stelton] |
Jakob Wagner is one of Scandinavia’s foremost designers at present, and he is one of only a handful to have exhibited at some of the biggest museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York with the Propeller Trivet from Menu.
Jakob is motivated by his love of meaningful shapes. He works at the balancing point between contrasting visual expressions: Masculine/feminine, organic/geometric, symmetric/asymmetric etc. “It brings the object to life, challenges our senses and appeals to our feelings,” he says – and it is this very approach that makes him so enjoyable to work with [... mehr]

The brothers combine their respective experience in the fields of design and business. Antony studied design at Central St. Martins when Richard did a business degree at Cambridge University. Twin brothers Antony and Richard Joseph launched their company in September 2002. The company has its roots in a family glass business stretching back three generations. Joseph Joseph has now developed into a strong brand that encompasses mostly kitchen and table-ware.
