Philieppe Starck
The son of an aeronautical engineer, Philippe Starck was born in Paris in 1949 and attended the École Nissim de Camondo in Paris from 1965 until 1967. In 1969 Philippe Starck became art director at Pierre Cardin. In the 1970s Philippe Starck embarked on a career as an interior decorator; stylish early interiors he designed include the "La Main Bleue" bar in Montreuil (1976) and "Les Bains Douches" in Paris (1978). Graduated from the Decorative Arts School in Nice in 1985, Master of Domus Academy, Milano, in 1986. He worked with Martine Bedin in Milano for two years (1986-1988). He started his own agency in 1993 and has been working independently ever since. His first furniture were produced by XO in 1991. He now engages in many fields: product and furniture design, interior decoration, architecture, scenography and artistic direction. Ron Arad was born in 1951 in Tel Aviv into an artistic family - his mother is a painter, his father a photographer. He attended the Accademy of Art in Jerusalem until the early 1970s, when he decided to leave Israel and study architecture in the UK. Settling in London in 1974, he enrolled at the city's least conventional school, the Architectural Association, where he studied under Peter Cool and Bernard Tschumi with classmates like Nigel Coates, Peter Wilson and Zaka Hadid.
